Two months have gone by since I last wrote. The trip from camp to UB went fine, it was exceptionally long and quite boring but otherwise fine. I have had a great time home but now it’s time to get started. We will spend some days in UB, buying food and equipment and then it’s off to the Gobi. On the sixth of February a South African named Guy will arrive to camp. Guy has caught a lot of leopards in Africa and I am looking forward to learning some new stuff from him. I am eager to se the pictures in our trap cameras and to start deploying traps.
I will not be able to access this site in camp, I send messages to Guillaume Chapron at Grimso Wildlife Research Station and he posts them. That means I can’t reply to your comments. Still, please write because Guillaume sends the comments once in a while and it warms to read what you have written
Longtail was shot by a herder in early January. It feels sad, I liked the cat and he deserved better than that.

Hi Orjan, hope you had a good holiday and wish you well for another year of work.
I was very sad to hear about Longtail, I hope his death can at least be some sort of lesson so that other snow leopards won’t have the same fate in the future.

Hej Örjan,
Tråkigt att vi inte hann träffas när du var hemma. Det får bli nästa gång eller hälsar jag på dej. Man vet aldrig vad som händer.
Good Hunting,
Mats
